EAGLE STYLE FAITH (23rd Sept 2012)

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 40:28~31

28. Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

29. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

30. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;

31. but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

 

 

 

Sermon: EAGLE STYLE FAITH

 

Do you know? chickens and eagles are showing very different each facing to the danger. For instance, when typhoon is coming, chickens are searching where they hide. But rather the eagles are making their wings unfurl widely, and then flowing their body by typhoon. Finally, they reached the safe places. Like this, when people face their lives' typhoon, it is divided by two kinds of people.

Here, there are chicken style ones, who hide their own bodies from the hardships and sufferings, and on the other hand, eagle style ones, who confront to the troubles and chagrins.

Who are solving problems and enjoying positive lives? Of course, it is the eagle style ones.

In the life of escaping from difficulties, it is hard to find happiness. there are always thorny paths of sufferings and troubles. So the great history of human being are written again by those who are overcoming bravely sufferings and hardships.

 

In western proverbs, it is said to us, "the northern winds made the Vikings." It means since the Vikings were considered big and strong, the cold and harsh north wind made them tough. They had to be tough to survive, so the weaker and smaller Vikings probably died off in natural selection. They also used the winds to sail and travel, explore, conquer, and pillage. So till now they are a legend of sailing and shipbuilding.

Like this, sufferings made us be strong with the faith in God. God let us change from weak chickens to strong eagles, if we rely on God with any faith.

Sometimes, we can see some say "I can stand up by myself, why? I can do! I believe in me!" Is it possible, really? exhausted people can have powers by themselves? Even superman needs the power from some. Who can give us the power for making us stand? This is our God Almighty!

In today text, who is He? Read verse 28!

 

"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom."

 

God is the creator of this world and the everlasting one. So he is able to control and manage all the things of this world; for example, when we are in sufferings, he can save us from them because he can remove it from our lives.

 

Are you losing your faith in front of hardships? Please hold your faith toward God. Never give up it. He is almighty and loving us so much. He hates the evil and do not want us to lose the evil one. He is standing in our side all the time and give us strength in any moments when we are receiving His authority and relying on Him.

Let us see verse 29

 

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak."

 

What he wants? he gives strengths "to the weary" and increases the power "of the weak". Who are the weary and the weak? Yes we are. We are the weary and the weak. In this world, nobody can say "I am not a weary and weak person". God know very well we are so. Therefore, we need God's caring. Without His help, we can live here with hope. Remember what God said to us now! verse 30 to 31

but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

 

No word to explain here!! It is not necessary to add any words. By it own words, we can understand His power, love and glory on us. only hope for happiness belongs to God in sufferings of this world. He can make us run with no more weary. He can make us walk not to be faint by winds of hardships.

We possess the great, great one. Please do not forget this point! If we want to buy fruits, we have to go to fruit market. If we want to but bread, we have to go to bakery. Like this, if we are in sufferings and need some help to get out of it, we have to go to God the Father and the Almighty. Then He should give us power like eagles' wings which overcome any strong wings.

I hope you are happy by this power from God. If you are in sufferings please remember the power from God and turn to Him right now. The power of God be with us forever.

 

Let's pray

Oh God! We want to escape from hardships of our lives under the wings of the Lord. But you are giving us more power to overcome them. Moreover you are with us going to the happiness. Thanks for giving us the power like eagles. Any typhoons of our lives can not stop ruin us. it can not stop relying on you. By the living blood of Jesus Christ, we are standing up in every life. With the faith of God's domination on us, in Jesus name we pray Amen.
